Het Dutch Harp Festival is verplaatst naar 𝟭𝟱 𝗲𝗻 𝟭𝟲 𝗺𝗲𝗶 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭.

Artistiek leider Remy van Kesteren: “Gezien de recente ontwikkelingen rondom het coronavirus zien we helaas geen andere mogelijkheid dan het Dutch Harp Festival een jaar uit te stellen... Er is op dit moment veel onzekerheid over de ontwikkelingen rondom het virus en vanzelfsprekend staat gezondheid altijd voorop. Het is op dit moment nog onduidelijk wanneer er weer evenementen in Nederland kunnen plaatsvinden. Daarnaast treedt op het Dutch Harp Festival een groot aantal internationale artiesten op, waarvan het onzeker is of ze op 9 en 10 mei in Nederland kunnen zijn. We werken al bijna twee jaar naar deze editie toe en balen hier dan ook enorm van. We hopen jullie allemaal veilig en wel te zien op 15 en 16 mei 2021. Stay safe!"

The Dutch Harp Festival's World Harp Competition k

The Dutch Harp Festival's World Harp Competition kicks off this week in TivoliVredenburg with the live European rounds. Candidates from across Europe will gather here in Utrecht to present their program pitches to the scouting jury. Each candidate will have just 15 minutes to win the hearts of the jury members through their artistry and creativity. Audience members will witness a breathtaking variety of musical styles and genres, from acoustic to electric, traditional to experimental. Join us on Monday and Tuesday to meet this year's candidates. Just six will be chosen for the finals! This event is free and open to the public.

Next week, on Tuesday 18 February, we're teaming up with the Utrecht University for an evening of music and science featuring French harpist Nikolaz Cadoret, Dutch composer Stef Veldhuis and oceanographer Erik van Sebille.⁣

This special evening is an invite only event, but we're happy to give-away 2x2 tickets! Just send an e-mail to info@harpfestival.nl if you want to participate.⁣

The location is TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht. Doors open at 7:30PM, program starts 8:00PM.⁣

𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤:⁣
The evening opens with a solo harp performance given on both electric and acoustic style harps. A native of Brittany, Cadoret's musical style is a unique blend of his traditional Celtic roots influenced by classical music and liberated through improvisation. A film documentary presented by Erik van Sebille, serves as an enlightening interlude in which he shares his research on ocean currents and climate change. The audience will then be treated to a musical interpretation of the ocean data in a world premiere of Stef Veldhuis' "Music by Oceans" for solo harp.
